AWAKENING

Somnolent waves of 
shifting consciousness,
intangible images 
intertwine with substance.

Sunlight illuminates
flowered curtains,
dreams drift through.

A bird's song brings
the soft lit room into
momentary focus.
Then slumber recaptures 
it's nebulous grasp.

Gossamer montage
interweaves with
movement and warmth;
cat curling up
on the coverlet.

Time creeps in,
tenacious reminder
as seductive sleep
gradually dissolves.
The day begins.
