GREAT BLUE

Carried by spring
on wings of grace,
transient of the sky
swoops down to alight 
in wizened disarray.

Swordlike neb 
reaches upward revealing 
a gaunt form supported 
on one spindly leg.
Guardian of the rock.

Sharp amber beads
keenly evaluate
strategic position
before hunching down
to fold within himself.

Aged bird
transformed into a
feathered Buddha,
observer of all 
and nothing.
