You may view cheater cloth as pleasant fabric that imitates a quilt or you may consider it as a way of cheating when making a quilt. It might have even crossed your mind that surely quilters of the old days wouldn't have considered using such a thing. But in truth cheater fabric was printed as early as 1850.

The log cabin quilt was a favored cheater cloth pattern around the turn of the last century. A popular cheater fabric in the 30s was that of the double wedding ring pattern. Bed coverings could be made with the lovely symbol of the wedding ring without the enormous amount of time required to piece this pattern.
