So many of us enjoyed the literature by Jane Austen in our younger days. Her books, including such favorites as Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Emma, brought us to another time and place and may even have influenced our love of history.
I just ran across a lovely quilt that Jane Austen made about 1811. At the Jane Austen Quilt website you can view photos of the quilt along with instructions on how to make a reproduction quilt of the original. The pattern is based on a large central diamond displaying fabric printed with a floral basket scene. The rest of the quilt is made up of triangles with smaller floral motifs. The result is an old fashioned look that we rarely see today.
