If you are a crazy quilt fan you will enjoy this quote from the article, "Making a Crazy Quilt", from the January 6, 1883 edition "Chester Times", Chester, PA. The writer suggests that women follow the following suggestions on embellishing their crazy quilts.
"The blocks of plain silk or satin can be made still brighter by working flowers or figures on them. For these figures patterns can be found in illustrated papers and in fashion magazines, but they may also be found on handbills and wrapping paper-sometimes, for instance, quaint little fans and umbrellas, the outlines of a bird's figure or a child's head. All these pictures may be used to advantage. "
