Quilts of the Mulhouse Museum of Printed Textiles

Friday, January 4, 2007

The Museum of Printed Textiles of Mulhouse in France is a dream destination for anyone who loves textiles. If your visit can only be virtual you will find a taste of what they offer on their site. The link above takes you to the English version.

Enjoy a brief overview of how textiles were made including a picture of ornate paisley woodblocks that made me realize the craftsmanship that went into them. You will also find samplings of printed textiles made during different periods. Boutis, quilts and other padded examples are also shown. Of course viewing these will just make you wish you could see the actual museum.

Wouldn't you love to see some of the quilts from the museum? Well Deb Roberts has made that possible at Photo Gallery - Musée de l'Impression sur Etoffes. You will love viewing these elegant quilts. They are examples of what was seen on a former tour to France. A new French tour is planned for the spring of 2008.

See some lovely reproduction French fabric at
Promenade II by Le Rouvray.
